The second Diaghilev Festival in a row is up to be finished by a loud party in a big space of the Shpagin Plant. The lineup is Teodor Currentzis and soloists of the musicAeterna Orchestra and Icelandic band Kælan Mikla.
The musicAeterna Orchestra based in Perm is now famous as the cohesive virtuoso ensemble which is able to reach the most extraordinary artistic goals on the highest level. The musicAeterna has in its background the repertoire spread form Mozart’s masterpieces to music by young composers; cooperation with the world leading directors, from Peter Sellars to Romeo Castellucci; performances at significant stages, from Perm to Salzburg. Appreciation by audiences and professional communities has been approved by the Record Academy Award, BraVo Award and three ECHO Klassik awards among others. At the Diaghilev Festival Party the musicians will perform the K-hole/schwarzer horizont.Drone (with song) piece by Serbian composer Marko Nikodijevic whose works the audience has already been amazed by to the previous year’s programme.
The female trio Kælan Mikla was formed in Reykjavik in 2013. Laufey Soffía (vocal), Sólveig Matthildur (synths, drums) and Margrét Rósa (bass) started with dark poetry and furious music stuck in teenage tensions. Things have changed since that time so the Icelandic band has shared the stage with King Dude, Drab Majesty and Placebo; performed at the Meltdown Festival due to invitation from Robert Smith of The Cure; released three LP’s and come over the first big tours. Today Kælan Mikla play synth-punk and darkwave with cold gothic aura nourished by the distant land of mermaids and elves in stylistic space somewhere between New Order and Crystal Castles.
