The Diaghilev+ 2025 programme opens with a concert by the David Oistrakh Quartet, an ensemble that has repeatedly performed in Perm. The Quartet's history began in 2012, when St Petersburg violinist Andrey Baranov, a remarkable soloist with an international career, became a laureate of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth International Competition, repeating David Oistrakh's Brussels triumph 75 years later. As a result, an already established quartet, which Andrey Baranov was part of as the first violin, received the name of the great violinist – that was the heirs' decision. The David Oistrakh String Quartet quickly gained wide recognition. The ensemble tours across Russia and abroad, performing at major festivals and leading concert venues in Europe, the USA, South America, and Asia.
